On the 14th (local time), the Texas Department of Public Safety reported that at around 10:30 a.m. on the 12th, a large semi-trailer truck crashed into the Department of Public Safety building in Brenham, a small town northwest of Houston. One person inside the building died from fatal injuries, and the remaining 13 sustained minor injuries. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed. The perpetrator, truck driver Clenard Parker (42), was reported to be unharmed.
After crashing the truck into the building, Parker attempted to reverse and ram the building again but was stopped and apprehended by police officers at the scene. Had the second collision occurred, the building might have collapsed, potentially causing more casualties in this critical situation. Following an investigation, he was charged with driving without a license, evading arrest, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to the authorities' investigation, Parker was denied the renewal of his commercial driver's license by the Texas Department of Public Safety the day before the incident. However, the specific reason for the denial was not disclosed. It was confirmed that Parker stole another person's trailer truck to carry out this crime. Foreign media reported that Parker had previous arrests for arson and trespassing.
