White House Statement Released
"Strongest Condemnation"
Clear Message Sent to Israel's Enemies
U.S. President Joe Biden announced that he will convene the leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) on the 14th to coordinate a "united diplomatic response" to Iran's attack on Israel.
In a statement on the 13th (local time), President Biden condemned Iran's attack "in the strongest possible terms" and made the announcement.
President Biden explained that last week, U.S. military aircraft and ballistic missile defense destroyers were deployed to the region to support Israel's defense. He added, "Thanks to these deployments and the remarkable skills of our troops, Israel was able to shoot down nearly all the drones and missiles approaching it."
He also stated that in a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following Iran's attack, he reaffirmed the United States' firm commitment to Israel's security.
President Biden said, "I told Prime Minister Netanyahu that Israel has demonstrated an incredible capability to defend against and repel unprecedented attacks, sending a clear message to Israel's enemies that they do not pose a substantial threat to Israel's security."
He also announced that he will convene the G7 leaders to coordinate a diplomatic response to this airstrike.
President Biden further stated that although there have been no attacks on U.S. military forces or facilities, "we will remain vigilant against all threats and will not hesitate to take all necessary actions to protect our people."
