Javier Milei (53), the Argentine president known as a 'maverick,' announced his breakup with his girlfriend through social media (SNS).

On the 13th (local time), President Milei posted on his X (formerly Twitter), "I have decided to end my relationship with Fatima Flores and maintain a bond based on friendship," adding, "No matter how much we love each other, we can no longer maintain the relationship we want."

He continued, "Fatima has received numerous offers to work together in the United States and Europe due to her great professional success," and "I made this decision because I am handling complex duties in Argentina."

Local media outlets such as La Naci?n and Clar?n described this as an unexpected breakup, as there appeared to be no issues between President Milei and Flores just over a month ago.

Earlier, President Milei had announced his public relationship with the famous comedian Flores after securing first place in the primary election (PASO) held before last August's presidential election. On December 10th last year, the day of his presidential inauguration, he visited the Col?n Theatre with Flores, and in February, on Flores's birthday, he went on stage at an event held in Mar del Plata and kissed her in front of the audience.

However, Flores has never accompanied President Milei on any official duties. Because of this, there has been speculation that instead of binding Flores as the first lady, Milei allowed her to pursue her activities freely, while his younger sister, Karina Milei (51), would effectively take on the role of first lady.

During an interview on a local radio station while he was president-elect, Milei responded to related questions by saying, "Success is about providing a better product at a good price to others and enjoying it," adding, "That is Flores's true value."

President Milei, a right-wing economist, is known as the 'maverick president' for his hot-tempered personality, blunt speech, and unconventional behavior. During his presidential campaign, he appeared dressed as a rock star holding a chainsaw and declared, "I will cut the 'generous welfare' that plunged Argentina into economic crisis," earning him the nickname 'Chainsaw President.'
