Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) has created a 'Picnic Garden' near Seongdong Bridge on Jungnangcheon Stream, where a colorful feast of spring flowers unfolds, offering residents a unique pleasure.

The Jungnangcheon area is a place where cherry blossoms and vividly colored tulips bloom, attracting continuous visits from residents in spring. On the 12th, Seongdong-gu established various sculptures and flower beds themed around a 'garden' to enjoy the beauty of spring flowers and to provide a comfortable space for rest and relaxation, creating an exotic resting area to welcome visitors.

The 'Jungnangcheon Picnic Garden' is a space where sightseeing and resting areas harmonize, featuring three distinctive attractions: ▲a diverse garden filled with beautiful flowers and exotic plants ▲a themed garden symbolizing the '5-minute Daily Garden City Seongdong' ▲and a cheerful and sensory communication garden for rest and relaxation.

The 'Jungnangcheon Picnic Garden' boasts a blend of representative spring flowers such as lupinus and anise hyssop, fragrant herbs like lavender and rosemary, and exotic plants like large cycads that are hard to encounter in urban areas, showcasing its beauty.

Currently, spring flowers including lupinus are in full bloom, and from mid-April, hydrangeas of various colors will bloom brightly. From May, visitors can see light pink leaves on the three-colored willow, allowing them to enjoy a garden that changes colorfully from April to June.

A themed garden representing the '5-minute Daily Garden City Seongdong'

This year, Seongdong-gu is newly promoting the goal of creating a city where all residents can reach a garden within a 5-minute walk, called the '5-minute Daily Garden City Seongdong.'

Seongdong-gu plans to devote efforts to creating gardens close to daily life and has installed symbolic sculptures to foster a friendly atmosphere where residents can feel more connected to everyday gardens.

Installations such as the 'Gardener's Workshop,' expressing the hope for the spread of garden culture in every household, and the '5-minute Garden Frame,' representing the '5-minute Daily Garden City Seongdong,' also serve as photo zones, expected to add unique enjoyment for visitors.

A cheerful and sensory communication garden for rest and relaxation

The 'Jungnangcheon Picnic Garden' features about 20 parasol benches along the path. Additionally, around 40 colorful fun-designed benches are placed in the center of the garden, creating more space for visitors to rest.

The fun-designed benches come in various shapes, adding cheerful and sensory enjoyment, making the space more attractive and lively, enhancing the pleasure of communication during visitors' stay.

Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, "We created the garden with the hope that people will enjoy another beginning of spring at the Jungnangcheon Picnic Garden, full of threefold charm, leaving behind the regret of cherry blossoms falling." He added, "We will continue to expand gardens in various living areas so that all residents can enjoy happiness through gardens in their daily lives, and we will do our best to achieve this."
