Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, attended the '15th Mapo Turtle Marathon' event held on the afternoon of the 13th at the Peace Plaza in World Cup Park, Sangam-dong, Mapo District.
Now in its 15th year, the 'Mapo Turtle Marathon' is sponsored by Mapo District and hosted and organized by the Mapo Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled. Participants walk the 6.4km marathon course together without competition, regardless of disability.
On this day, about 500 participants including families of people with disabilities and local residents took part. In addition to the marathon, celebratory performances and experience booths were set up to greatly enhance the participants' enjoyment.
In his congratulatory speech, Mayor Park Gang-su said, "I hope you break down the barriers of disability today, walk together with one heart, and feel the joy of completing the course." He added, "Mapo District is continuously doing its best to create a city where people with disabilities can live well, so please watch over us."
