Park Gang-su, Mapo District Mayor, "We Will Continue Leading Innovative Administration for Residents"
Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) has been honored by being selected in the Administrative Innovation City category at the ‘Korea Creative Management 2024’ awards.
Held on the 12th at The Plaza Hotel, ‘Korea Creative Management 2024’ was organized to discover and select cases of various management innovations across all industries in Korea and to encourage such activities.
Mapo-gu was highly evaluated for its efforts to always prioritize residents and proactively implement policies to realize the ‘Era of Happiness for Mapo Residents.’
To resolve conflicts and civil complaints, Mapo-gu moved away from formalistic administration and implemented advanced projects such as the ▲365 Resident Communication Phone ▲On-site Mayor’s Office ▲Regional and Civil Complaint Win-Win Committees, actively entering the field and residents’ lives to mediate and adjust conflicts, thereby improving resident satisfaction.
Regarding safety, based on the belief that over-response is fundamental, Mapo-gu established a meticulous disaster management system through ▲Disaster Safety Situation Room ▲Safety Mapo Hotline ▲AI Crowd Density System ▲AI Automated System for Flood Prevention in Underground Roads.
In particular, the judges praised the focused special management of the globally popular tourist spot Hongdae’s ‘Red Road’ area, which helped prevent safety accidents in advance during Halloween and year-end holiday periods.
Policies to revitalize the local economy were not overlooked. Utilizing the ‘Red Road,’ created with the innovative idea of combining tourism and safety, Mapo-gu developed themed streets with unique characteristics and created the Red Road characters ‘Kkaebi’ and ‘Kkaesun,’ hosting various festivals to breathe new life into the local economy, which had been stagnant due to COVID-19.
Preparing for a super-aged society, Mapo-gu is implementing the nation’s first innovative project, ‘Resident Participation Filial Piety Meal,’ which provides integrated support from meals to health care for elderly residents who are easily marginalized.
Additionally, through the ‘Sunlight Center,’ which supports everything from pregnancy preparation to postpartum care and infant support, and the ‘Cheokkeut Center,’ a strong support for unmarried mothers, Mapo-gu is focusing administrative efforts on making Mapo a good place to have and raise children, receiving positive responses from residents.
At the awards ceremony, Mayor Park Gang-su of Mapo-gu stated, “I believe that if you do your best, you will have no regrets even if you fail, and if you do not do your best, you will regret it even if you succeed. With this mindset, I will devote myself to carrying out innovative administration for residents more diligently and actively.”
