Kim Sang-hyun, General Representative of Lotte Distribution Group (Vice Chairman of Lotte Shopping), has embarked on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) activities to spread positive influence.

City Plogging is a compound word of 'City,' meaning urban area, and 'Plogging,' referring to the activity of picking up trash in urban areas. Plogging is a term derived from the Swedish words 'Plocka upp,' meaning 'to pick up,' and 'jogga,' meaning 'to jog,' thus meaning 'to pick up trash.'
This City Plogging event was planned to protect the environment and remind people of the importance of the Earth during April, known as Earth Month, which includes Arbor Day (April 5) and Earth Day (April 22). On the day, executives and employees of Lotte Distribution Group HQ used eco-friendly plogging kits consisting of shoulder bags made from recycled materials, recycled work gloves, and biodegradable bags to walk and run for two hours while collecting trash along a 10 km section of Olympic Park.
Lotte Distribution Group HQ plans to regularly conduct City Plogging according to seasonal themes and also hold flea markets using items donated by employees. The proceeds from the flea markets will be donated to those in need. Furthermore, they intend to strengthen ESG activities so that these campaigns, which go beyond traditional environmental protection and social contribution, can be established as a new corporate culture program within the Distribution Group.
Meanwhile, Lotte Department Store and Lotte Mart & Super continue their ESG activities for local communities. At the 'RE:EARTH Market' event, where participants plog in areas needing environmental cleanup, over 7,000 people collected 25,000 liters of trash. Lotte Mart & Super conducted a river cleanup event on the 19th of last month at Seongnaecheon Stream in Songpa-gu, Seoul, in observance of World Water Day.
Lee Young-no, Head of Compliance at Lotte Distribution Group HQ, said, "In celebration of Earth Month in April, we conducted City Plogging with a united heart among employees to raise awareness of the importance of the environment and help local communities. Lotte Distribution Group will continue ESG activities to protect the environment and deliver socially positive influence."
