Last Year, Sold '3 Trillion Won'... Daiso Soars High

Daiso recorded sales of 3 trillion won and operating profit in the 200 billion won range last year.

Asung Daiso announced on the 12th that last year's sales and operating profit were 3.4604 trillion won and 261.7 billion won respectively, marking increases of 17.5% and 9.4% compared to the previous year.

Annual sales rose from 2.6 trillion won in 2021 to 2.9 trillion won in 2022, and exceeded 3 trillion won last year. Operating profit was 283.8 billion won in 2021 and 239.3 billion won in 2022. As of last year, the number of stores was 1,519, and the number of employees was about 12,000.

Daiso explained, "The recovery of offline consumption and the trend of consumption polarization increased demand for cost-effective products," adding, "The popularity of strategic products such as branded cosmetics and practical clothing items, as well as stable growth in sales of seasonal and series products, contributed to this."

Daiso sells about 260 types of cosmetics from 26 brands including Nature Republic, Danahan, Clio, and VT Cosmetic. Last year, sales of basic and color cosmetics increased by 85% compared to the previous year.

In mid-December last year, Daiso opened a new Daiso Mall by integrating the existing Daiso Mall and Shop Daiso to improve operational efficiency and strengthened online sales with services such as next-day delivery.
