Promotion of Various Festivals Held in April-May Including the Haeyang Healing Industry and Jangbogo Seafood Festival
Shin Woo-cheol, the mayor of Wando County, threw the ceremonial first pitch at the professional baseball game between the Kia Tigers and LG Twins held at Gwangju Kia Champions Field on the 11th.
According to Wando County on the 12th, this first pitch event was organized to promote the Wando Marine Healing Center, which opened nationwide for the first time last November, the Cheongsando Slow Walking Festival (April 6?21), the Jangbogo Seafood Festival (May 3?6), the 4th Jeonnam Garden Festival (May 3?31), and local specialties.

On that day, not only did Mayor Shin throw the first pitch, but county officials also rolled up their sleeves to promote by distributing brochures about the Wando Marine Healing Center programs and festivals, as well as local specialties such as seaweed, to spectators before the game started.
In particular, a marine healing promotional video introducing various therapies at the Marine Healing Center, which has emerged as a hot place for healing, was broadcast on the electronic scoreboard, attracting attention.
Wando County offers discounts on the Marine Healing Center usage fees to encourage more people to improve their health through marine healing: 30% for families of three or more, 20% for groups of ten or more, and 20% for Jeonnam residents.
An official from the Tourism Department said, “While online promotion is important, on-site promotional activities allow us to immediately gauge citizens’ reactions, which helps us think about what content and methods to use for future promotions,” adding, “We hope this promotional activity will help attract visitors to the Healing Center and tourists.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Jangbogo Seafood Festival,’ which will be held from May 3 to 6, will feature various events such as making large seaweed healing gimbap, traditional bamboo sea fishing, abalone picking experience, and a traditional rowing competition.

The ‘Jeonnam Garden Festival,’ which received great response from locals and tourists last year and was hosted again by Wando County this year, will be held from May 1 to 31 at the coastal park area.
This year’s festival theme is ‘Tiny House Garden,’ meaning ‘a garden like a small house,’ aimed at creating a sustainable garden culture where visitors can apply what they see in the garden to their homes. The county is currently preparing for the festival.
