Geumcheon-gu Supports Youth Who Gave Up Job Searching with Up to 3.5 Million KRW for Career Exploration

Geumcheon-gu announced that it is recruiting participants for the ‘Youth Challenge Support Project,’ which supports employment for young people who have given up job searching, until the 26th.

The ‘Youth Challenge Support Project’ is a program designed to boost young people’s motivation to seek employment and promote job placement through customized programs, operated at the local youth activity space ‘Cheongchun Building.’

The program consists of five courses: ▲ intensive counseling ▲ case management ▲ confidence recovery ▲ career exploration ▲ employment competency enhancement, recommending suitable jobs to participants and providing job search skills.

In ‘intensive counseling,’ 1:1 basic and on-demand counseling sessions assess reasons for giving up job searching and readiness for job seeking, supporting the establishment of personalized goals and detailed career plans.

‘Case management’ provides services such as ▲ lifestyle management including health checkups, mental health support, housing education, and dietary improvement ▲ physical activities, youth policy guidance ▲ and certification planning.

In ‘confidence recovery,’ participants gain self-understanding through personality type tests (MBTI) and improve interpersonal skills by engaging in book discussions and job study groups.

‘Career exploration’ offers ▲ self-exploration through vocational aptitude tests and career consulting ▲ and time for job exploration through mentoring by current professionals.

‘Employment competency enhancement’ includes ▲ basic job skills and office automation training ▲ and job search skills covering everything from writing self-introductions and resumes to interview preparation.

Additionally, upon completing the program, participants can receive up to 3.5 million KRW in participation allowances and performance bonuses depending on the duration of participation.

The program is divided into a mid-term course (15 weeks) and a long-term course (25 weeks), recruiting 40 participants for the mid-term and 30 for the long-term.

Youth aged 18 to 34 who meet any of the following criteria can apply: ▲ those with no participation history in employment, education, or vocational training for over six months ▲ youth preparing for independence (former wards of the state) ▲ youth entering or leaving youth welfare facilities ▲ North Korean defectors.

Additionally, regionally specialized youth such as ▲ women aged 34 to 39 who are taking a break from work due to health issues, marriage, pregnancy, childbirth, or childcare ▲ youth aged 18 to 34 engaged in livelihood part-time jobs (under 30 hours per week) can also apply.

Details and applications can be found at Cheongchun Building or Worknet.

The district plans to recruit 30 participants for a short-term course (5 weeks) in September, with further details to be announced separately on the Geumcheon-gu website under ‘Notices & Announcements.’

Yoo Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "I hope young people actively participate in this project to increase their will to find employment and succeed in securing jobs that suit them."

For more information, inquiries can be made at Cheongchun Building or the Geumcheon-gu Office’s Youth Employment Division.
