Japanese organic light-emitting diode (OLED) company Idemitsu Kosan is hiring local talent for its research and development (R&D) center being established in Osan, Gyeonggi Province.

Applicants must hold a master's degree or higher in science or engineering and have research and development experience related to OLED materials and devices. The hired employees will be responsible for designing and synthesizing molecules such as light-emitting, electron transport, and hole transport materials that make up OLED devices, as well as fabricating and evaluating EL (Electro Luminescence cell) devices through OLED material combinations.

This recruitment plan was reportedly finalized following a request made during Osan Mayor Lee Kwon-jae's visit to Idemitsu Kosan in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, in September last year. At that time, Mayor Lee emphasized the necessity of local hiring to encourage talent return, and the company accepted this, deciding to proceed with new recruitment.

Idemitsu Kosan is a petrochemical and materials company with annual sales of approximately 95 trillion won, producing organic light-emitting diode (OLED) materials. The company is known to plan expanding its product portfolio to include battery and semiconductor materials in the future.

The company is establishing its first overseas R&D subsidiary in Naesammi-dong, Osan, and is promoting the construction of the center. Separately from this new recruitment, a total of 34 personnel, including 26 research staff and 8 resident employees, are expected to work at the Osan R&D center.
