Exchange Program... Operated Twice Annually Between Korea and Japan
Sharing Content Know-How and IP Success Cases
CJ ENM is operating a creator exchange program with Japan's terrestrial broadcaster TBS Group. The plan is to expand the global network and further strengthen content production capabilities through collaboration between creators from both Korea and Japan.
CJ ENM announced on the 11th that it jointly conducted an exchange program with Japan's TBS Group from the 20th to the 21st of last month, involving over 50 creators from both companies. The TBS Group, which owns various production companies such as broadcaster TBS TV, TBS Sparkle, and THE SEVEN, is a leading Japanese content and broadcasting company that produced popular dramas like "Hanzawa Naoki" and "Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu," as well as the variety show "Fuun! Takeshi Castle."
At the workshop hosted by CJ ENM, PDs who led the K-content wave, including Oh Kwang-hee of "Mask Girl," Son Ja-young of "Marry Me Now," and Lee Dong-eun of "Diva on an Uninhabited Island," shared their content creation know-how as speakers.
The TBS Group also shared world-class planning and development capabilities through successful original IP adaptations such as "TOKYO MER: Running Emergency Room" and "VIVANT." Additionally, they had the opportunity to visit the CJ ENM Studio Center to explore cutting-edge production facilities and world-class visual effects (VFX) technology.
A CJ ENM official explained, "The program is scheduled to be held twice in total, traveling between Korea and Japan in the first and second halves of this year," adding, "We expect to accelerate content production aimed at the global market by expanding collaboration opportunities for creators from leading Korean and Japanese content companies."
CJ ENM signed a business agreement with the TBS Group in 2021 for co-production and business cooperation on global content. Since then, the two companies have pursued various projects, including joint planning of content across diverse genres, co-production of webtoons and comics, and development of content formats.
