Puwabo Presses Paw Firmly... MZ Generation's Voting Certification Is Different Too

Special Allowance Included in Certification Discount Event

On the 10th, the day of the 22nd general election, various types of voting verification are heating up online.

Initially, the most common method was stamping the back of the hand with a voting mark, but recently, stamping character illustrations has become popular. People stamp not only popular characters but also the paw print of Fubao, which was returned to China three days ago. Inspired by the similarity of the voting mark to the Korean consonant 'siot (ㅅ)', some use it to wish for the victory of their favorite sports teams by stamping the voting mark in place of the 'siot' in the word '우승' (victory).

Not only voting verification but also "open run" verification is popular. On X (formerly Twitter), the keyword "polling station open run" even trended in real time.

Since online election campaigning is allowed on the voting day itself, supporters are actively encouraging voting. Efforts were also seen to prevent confusion caused by the proportional representation party numbers starting from 3 instead of 1.

Private companies also supported voting participation through events. A hospital in Cheongju gave a special allowance of 10,000 won to employees who participated in early voting. There is also a hotel buffet that offers a 15% discount on food expenses to those who participate in early or main voting only on the day of the National Assembly election. At golf courses, voters can get free drinks, and the musical "Marie Antoinette," celebrating its 10th anniversary in Korea, is offering up to 30% on-site discounts until this weekend.

However, there are important precautions when taking verification photos. They must be taken outside the polling station, and taking photos inside the polling station or of the ballot paper and posting them on SNS can result in imprisonment for up to two years or a fine of up to 4 million won.
