The Seoul Southern District Court Criminal Appeal Division 2-3 (Presiding Judges Kim Seong-won, Lee Jeong-gwon, Kim Ji-suk) overturned the original sentence of one year in prison and sentenced Nafla, who was charged with violating the Military Service Act, to one year and two months in prison with a two-year probation on the 9th. He was also ordered to perform 120 hours of community service.

The court criticized, "The nature of the crime is very serious, and the defendant threatened a public official who had accommodated him, demanding early discharge again, which is a grave offense."

However, the court explained the reason for the reduced sentence, stating, "Considering that the defendant is remorseful and repentant, and the fairness of sentencing simultaneously with the marijuana case, the sentence was determined."

Nafla was arrested and indicted in March last year on charges of conspiring with his agency representative and a military service broker to fabricate a worsening depression in order to attempt early discharge while serving as a social service agent at Seocho District Office in Seoul in February 2021.
