Um Sang-hwan, a third-year student in the Department of International Trade at National Pukyong University and a member of the GTEP (Regional Specialized Youth Trade Expert Training) project team, participated in the ‘2024 Singapore Shipbuilding & Offshore Plant Exhibition (APM)’ held from the 13th to the 15th of last month at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, supporting export consultations for Hartman and achieving this result.

This exhibition, the largest shipbuilding and offshore plant conference in Asia, featured 2,879 companies from 68 countries and was visited by more than 15,000 buyers. Um Sang-hwan was fully responsible for handling export consultation at Hartman’s booth, a ship engine parts manufacturing company, during the exhibition.

Over the course of three days, Um Sang-hwan conducted 106 export contract consultations and succeeded in securing an on-site contract worth $300,000 for engine parts with company M from Turkey. Including this contract, Hartman achieved a total of six on-site contracts and pursued 30 contracts during this period, resulting in potential contracts worth $1 million.

Based on his excellent English communication skills and trade-related knowledge, Um Sang-hwan actively emphasized the outstanding quality of Hartman’s products and their prompt delivery advantages, successfully concluding actual contracts. He is currently participating in activities as part of the National Pukyong University GTEP project team.

The GTEP project, operated by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea International Trade Association, is a program that cultivates young trade experts active in fields such as trade practice and export marketing. This year, National Pukyong University was selected to operate the program.

Kim Dong-chan, CEO of Hartman, stated, “Through cooperation with the National Pukyong University GTEP project team at this exhibition, we achieved contract results twice as much as expected and were able to secure long-term friendly relationships with client companies. We will continue to pursue mutual growth and cooperation with the university in the future.”
