The Metropolitan Water Management Council is a practical discussion forum held before water discharge, aimed at ensuring smooth water supply between regions for hydraulic facilities spanning two or more cities/counties, including the four major lakes in our region (Jangseongho, Najuho, Damyangho, Gwangjuho).

Due to climate change causing repeated extreme droughts and heavy rainfall with significant regional differences, the need for a practical consultative body to resolve inter-regional water conflicts and efficiently supply agricultural water has increased. Accordingly, the Jeonnam Headquarters has been operating the Metropolitan Water Management Council since 2007.

During the meeting, the water discharge schedule was also discussed. As of the 9th, the average reservoir rate of the four major lakes was 82.8%, making smooth water supply during the farming season feasible. Therefore, agricultural water supply is planned to start with Mongtan Pumping Station on May 10, followed by Jangseongho (May 13), Damyangho (May 14), Gwangjuho (May 14), and Najuho (May 16) in sequence.

The Jeonnam Headquarters plans to continue efforts for stable water supply by inspecting agricultural water supply and supply facilities (wells, pumping stations, etc.), focusing on reservoirs with low water levels in accordance with the water discharge schedule.

Director Jo Young-ho stated, "Reducing shortages in water supply is for agriculture, and preventing excess is for the people, which is one of the corporation's most important roles," adding, "Despite climate change, we will do our best to manage agricultural water supply this year so that farmers can cultivate without worrying about water."
