Hugel announced on the 9th that its polydioxanone (PDO) suture brand Riselvi (domestic name Blue Rose Forte) has obtained product approval from the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (ANVISA).
Riselvi is a PDO-type suture brand from JWorld, a suture manufacturing company and a subsidiary of Hugel. It is explained that a differentiated non-thermal processing method was applied to overcome the weaknesses of existing PDO sutures that are vulnerable to heat. PDO sutures are used for tissue suturing and ligation and are also used for skin beauty and wrinkle improvement purposes. They are mainly utilized in thread lifting procedures that lift skin tissue.
With this approval of Riselvi, Hugel has achieved the milestone of entering the suture market in Brazil following its botulinum toxin product Retivo (domestic name Botulex). Brazil is the largest market in Latin America and ranks as the third largest aesthetic market worldwide by single country standards. According to global market research firm Verified Market Research, Brazil’s thread lifting market is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 7.91%, reaching approximately 255.7 billion KRW by 2030.
Hugel plans to establish a differentiated marketing strategy tailored to local characteristics to achieve rapid market penetration. Brazil has the unique characteristic of dividing brands by plastic surgery, dermatology, and dentistry, and Hugel intends to reflect this by conducting sales and marketing activities differently for each medical specialty.
A Hugel representative said, “We are very pleased to launch Riselvi in the rapidly growing Brazilian aesthetic market,” and added, “We will establish a systematic market entry strategy to quickly establish products containing Hugel’s technology, including PDO sutures, in the market.”
