Na Kyung-won, co-chair of the People Power Party's joint election committee, said in an interview with CBS Radio's ‘Kim Hyun-jung's News Show’ that “If the National Assembly becomes one where the opposition does as they please, there will be no livelihood,” adding, “(The People Power Party's goal in this election) is to restore the extreme imbalance to at least a minimal balance.”

Na said, “Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, mentioned impeachment, but if we keep talking about impeachment, special investigations, and parliamentary audits, we won't be able to move forward at all,” and “If the opposition wins 180 seats, they will have unchecked power to push everything onto the fast track and do as they please, and with 200 seats, they could even amend the constitution.” She added, “After the election, our party will naturally have a bit more power, so we will play the role of a counterbalance, convey the public's will well, and help the president and government perform effectively,” and “We once again ask for support in forming a National Assembly that allows us to work.”

On the other hand, Kim Boo-kyum, standing co-chair of the Democratic Party's joint election committee, dismissed the opposition's forecast of 200 seats, saying, “There has never been such a thing in our political history. It's just the ruling party's exaggeration; no single political force will exceed 200 seats,” and “How could it be possible without the people's support? It's an impossible story.” When asked about the spirit of this election, he answered, “I define it as the election for the completion of judgment and the restoration of politics.”

Regarding the opposition's election slogan of ‘regime judgment theory,’ he pointed out, “Has the government been unable to operate stably over the past two years? It's not right to keep blaming the opposition,” and “I hope people consider whether the judgment theory would have spread so widely among the public if the government had engaged in more dialogue with the opposition during governance.”
