The 'Gwangju Cultural Heritage Night Tour' will be held over two days, from the 26th to the 27th of this month, around the 5·18 Democracy Square. The programs requiring prior registration include four types: ▲the course-type themed experience 'Dong-gu Uibyeong Training Center' ▲immersive play 'Dongin' ▲mini parade 'Little Uibyeong Corps' ▲and the 'Children’s Cultural Heritage Guide Tour.'

The 'Dong-gu Uibyeong Training Center,' a themed experience of the Gwangju Cultural Heritage Festival, is a program where participants can encounter stories of the Uibyeong (righteous army) through experiencing props and weapons related to the Gwangju Uibyeong active from the Joseon Dynasty to the late Joseon period, as well as making food supplies. The target participants are 30 elementary and middle school students per session.

The immersive play 'Dongin,' performed together by the audience and actors, is a citizen participation performance program where participants can enjoy stories of women in Gwangju’s history while drinking tea. Anyone can participate.

The mini parade 'Little Uibyeong Corps' is an experience where participants dress in Uibyeong uniforms and become Uibyeong protecting Gwangju Eupseong, patrolling the event area from 5·18 Democracy Square to the Gwangju Eupseong Ruins. It targets 25 kindergarten and elementary school students per session. Participants will also receive a certificate of appointment after the event.

The 'Children’s Cultural Heritage Guide Tour' is a historical tour program where anyone can listen to stories about local cultural heritage through child guides who have completed the Dong-gu Children’s Cultural Heritage Guide training course.

In addition, 28 programs with 8 night themes will be presented, highlighting the cultural heritage of the region and the Uibyeong, notable figures of Dong-gu, and student independence activists who lived during the Japanese colonial period in Gwangju, through experiences, performances, and exhibitions.

Applications for participation can be made through the Gwangju Cultural Heritage Night Tour website. For more details, inquiries can be made to the Culture and Tourism Division’s Culture and Arts Department or the Dong-gu Cultural Heritage Utilization Project Secretariat.

A Dong-gu official said, "It will be a special time to enjoy various programs utilizing cultural heritage and to take in the night scenery while exploring various places in Dong-gu," adding, "We hope many citizens will participate in the 'Gwangju Cultural Heritage Night Tour,' which unfolds through the 'Memory of Stone.'"
