Park Byung-tae, Chairman of Gwangju Election Commission, Inspects Storage Conditions of Early Voting Boxes in Jurisdiction

Park Byeong-tae, Chairman of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Election Commission, inspected the storage status of early voting boxes within the jurisdiction for the 22nd National Assembly election.

According to the Gwangju Election Commission on the 8th, Chairman Park visited the Seo-gu and Buk-gu Election Commissions on the same day to check and inspect the storage status of early voting boxes and mail-in voting boxes within the jurisdiction, as well as the CCTV public monitoring status.

The early voting boxes within the jurisdiction were handed over from each early voting station to the district election commissions after the early voting ended on the 5th and 6th. The mail-in voting boxes are ballot boxes that store return envelopes containing ballots from absentee and shipboard voters, overseas voters, and early voters outside the jurisdiction, which are delivered to the district election commissions via registered mail and received by the district election commissions.

These ballot boxes are stored in a separately partitioned area within the district election commissions equipped with a security system and access control system until they are transported to the counting center, and the storage status is recorded through CCTV.

Additionally, anyone can check the real-time footage without a separate application through monitors installed on the first floor of the Gwangju Election Commission.

Meanwhile, in the early voting for the 22nd National Assembly election, Gwangju recorded a high early voting rate of 38%, with 455,962 out of 1,199,920 eligible voters participating in early voting.

A representative of the Gwangju Election Commission said, “We will do our best until the end to ensure a fair and accurate election,” and added, “Please review the policies and pledges of political parties and candidates and make sure to participate in the voting.”
