Daejeon Dong-gu to Host 'Daecheongho Cherry Blossom Marathon' on the 13th

3000 Participants in Three Courses: Half Marathon, Mini (10km), and Health (5km)

Dong-gu, Daejeon announced on the 8th that it will hold the '2024 Daecheongho Cherry Blossom Road Marathon' at Daecheongho Cherry Blossom Hanteo on the 13th.

About 3,000 participants will compete in three courses: Half (21.0975km), Mini (10km), and Health (5km).

On the day of the event, the opening ceremony and warm-up exercises will begin at 8 a.m. as a pre-event, and the marathon will start sequentially from 8:30 a.m. with the Half, Mini, and Health courses.

The Half course runs from Shinsang-dong Cherry Blossom Hanteo to Odong Bus Stop, the Mini course to 150-8 Saseong-dong, and the Health course to Gujeolgol Bus Stop as a turning point, then returns to the starting point.

Prizes will be awarded to the top 1st to 3rd place in each category and age group, and all participants who complete the course will receive a commemorative medal.

To facilitate smooth parking for participants this year, the district has established a new parking lot on the site of the former US military fuel depot (around 234-1 Shinsang-dong) along with existing parking lots such as Cherry Blossom Hanteo and Heungjin Hanteo.

Additionally, shuttle buses will operate for participants using public transportation from 7:00 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. between Panam Station and Shinsang Intersection, and from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. between Shinsang Intersection and Panam Station at 15-minute intervals.

The Daecheongho Cherry Blossom Road Marathon automatically donates 2,000 KRW per participant, with 1,000 KRW each donated to 'Angel's Touch,' Dong-gu's representative welfare brand, and the Daejeon City Sports Promotion Fund.

Park Hee-jo, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, "The Daecheongho Cherry Blossom Road Marathon is the best marathon festival in the central region where participants can enjoy spring while running along the nationally renowned tourist attraction, the Daecheongho lakeside," and added, "I hope all participants safely complete the marathon."
