Lee, Minju Campaign Committee Meeting: "Illegal Activities Rampant"
Opposition Meeting Attendees Hold Signs Saying "Let's Judge"
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated, "Even if they act disgracefully, we will proceed with dignity."
On the morning of the 8th, Lee Jae-myung held a Central Election Countermeasures Committee meeting at the party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, saying, "As the election nears its end, it is expected that various black propaganda will run rampant by exploiting the situation where verification is impossible," and added, "Even if they act disgracefully, we will proceed with dignity." He continued, "Especially regarding the mass dissemination of false information and slander through messengers and other means, please respond with an immediate reporting system in place and a stance to hold them accountable without fail."

He criticized, "The president himself has repeatedly conducted nationwide tours suspected of illegal electioneering dozens of times," and "The Central Election Commission also sometimes shows an incomprehensible attitude." He added, "This applies to the large-scale manipulation and number games," emphasizing, "Recently, illegal acts of transporting different voters in the same vehicle were caught on site."
At the meeting, Lee Hae-chan, co-chairman of the standing election countermeasures committee, said, "It is the first time I have seen the Financial Supervisory Service intervene in an election," and claimed, "I wondered why the head of the Financial Supervisory Service was appointed as a prosecutor, and it seems it was to use him at this time." Furthermore, he added, "After the election, the Financial Supervisory Service should impose strict sanctions." This was in reference to the Financial Supervisory Service's plan to conduct a full investigation into illicit loans, which was viewed as election interference. Amid the Saemaeul Geumgo Central Association's request for a prosecution investigation into Yang Moon-seok, the Democratic Party candidate for Ansan City Gap in Gyeonggi Province, over allegations of illicit loans, the Financial Supervisory Service is expected to call representatives from each central association of mutual finance within this week to guide them to conduct self-inspections of illicit loan cases. On the 5th, Lee also criticized the Financial Supervisory Service's inspection of Yang's Saemaeul Geumgo illicit loan allegations as "blatant electioneering."

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party's Headquarters for Judgment on Government-led and Fraudulent Elections will visit the Central Election Commission located in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province, in the afternoon to protest various government-led election issues. Attendees include Secretary-General Jo Jeong-sik, Head of the Fraudulent Election Judgment Headquarters Park Ju-min, Seoul City Party Chairman Kim Young-ho, Assemblyman Kim Young-bae, and Democratic United representative Yoon Young-duk.
