Gyeonggi Province will hold the 'Urban Agriculture Day' event for the first time this year.
On the 8th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will hold the '1st Gyeonggi Province Urban Agriculture Day Commemoration Event' on the 13th at Seongnam Citizen Farm together with the Gyeonggi Province Urban Agriculture Community to raise awareness of the importance of urban agriculture in the era of climate crisis.
The commemoration event consists of urban agriculture experience programs such as planting barley sprouts and companion plants to expand exchanges between residents and urban farmers, making eco-friendly loofahs, sharing seeds for vegetable gardens, as well as events to enhance understanding of agriculture such as counseling for returning to farming and rural areas and promotion of the Rural Workforce Center.
Gong Jeong-sik, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Agriculture, Fisheries and Life Sciences Bureau, said, "We hope that the 1st Gyeonggi Province Urban Agriculture Day event will lead to an increase in urban farmers who contribute to carbon neutrality practices in response to climate change and the stabilization of food supply."
Meanwhile, the '1st Gyeonggi Province Urban Agriculture Day Commemoration Event' held on this day will be conducted as a zero single-use product event, and participants must bring reusable containers and shopping bags.
