On the 5th, when early voting for the 22nd National Assembly election began, early voting stations in Daejeon and Chungnam areas were bustling with voters eager to cast their precious votes.
That morning, the early voting station set up on the 2nd floor of Ssangyong 1-dong Administrative Welfare Center in Cheonan was crowded with citizens despite the early hour.
Citizens entering the voting stations, both from outside and inside the district, completed identity verification and received their ballots. Some voters raised their arms high to show the long ballots.
Due to the length of the ballots, voting took somewhat longer. Election commission officials installed an additional voting booth along the long queue, allowing the voting process to proceed smoothly.
Park (27), a resident of Seongseong-dong, said, "I was surprised by how long the ballot was," adding, "Given the country's difficulties, I approached this vote with a sense of responsibility, knowing it will determine the nation's fate."
Kim (73), who identified as a Cheonan citizen, said, "I came to vote on my way back from morning exercise," and added, "I always vote hoping for national stability, but it seems things don't improve. This time, I truly hope for stability."
Choi (58) and his spouse, who were looking at election campaign materials outside the voting station, said, "We still don't know who to choose, so we were reviewing the materials one last time," and added, "My husband wants me to vote for someone, but I don't like them, so I plan to vote for someone else."
Local government heads from Daejeon and Chungnam also cast their precious votes that day.
Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo and Daejeon City Council Chairman Lee Sang-rae completed their voting at the Dunsan 1-dong early voting station set up at Daejeon City Hall. Seo Cheol-mo, head of Seo-gu District Office, also voted at the early voting station located on the basement first floor of Seo-gu Office.
Mayor Lee urged, "I hope citizens cast their precious votes in this election to choose true workers who will be responsible for Daejeon's future on behalf of the citizens."
Chungnam Governor Kim Tae-heum also cast his precious vote at the Hongbuk-eup early voting station set up at the Chungnam Regional Headquarters of the Korea Rural Community Corporation in Hongseong County.
Governor Kim urged, "For the 50- and 100-year future of the Republic of Korea, I ask all voters to exercise their precious rights."
This early voting will be held from the 5th to the 6th, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Voters can vote at early voting stations installed in all towns, townships, and neighborhoods nationwide regardless of their residence. Nearby early voting stations can be checked on the Central Election Commission website and other sources.
