The Grandson of Gangjin Begins Life in Gangjin... Appointed as Gangjin County Public Relations Ambassador
Jung Jin-woon, a member of the ballad group ‘2am,’ was appointed as the promotional ambassador of Gangjin County along with moving into Gangjin Pum-ae (愛) on the 4th.
On the 4th, Gangjin County in Jeollanam-do held the second move-in ceremony of Gangjin Pum-ae (愛) at Hosan Village in Gangjin-eup, attended by about 50 people including village residents, County Governor Kang Jin-won, and related officials.
According to the county on the 5th, the owner of Gangjin Pum-ae No. 2 is Jung Jin-woon, who debuted in 2008 as a member of 2am and is active in various fields such as music, acting, entertainment, and photography. He has played leading roles in films like ‘Rebound’ and ‘I Am Here,’ and recently was cast as the lead in ‘God’s Orchestra,’ continuing his active acting career as a versatile entertainer.

Gangjin County’s ‘Vacant House Remodeling Support Project’ is a groundbreaking policy that remodels vacant houses in rural areas within the county and rents them to urban residents at a very low monthly rent of just 10,000 KRW for periods of 5 or 7 years. This unique policy of Gangjin County was born out of the urgent need to solve the problem of neglected vacant houses in rural areas and to attract urban population to counter the crisis of regional extinction.
In January, the first family moved into Gangjin Pum-ae (愛) No. 1 located in Jangdong Village, Gangjin-eup, and this is the second move-in, but it has already gained great popularity nationwide with a flood of inquiries.
Singer Jung Jin-woon, whose maternal grandmother’s house was in Hosan Village, Gangjin-eup, is known to have applied to move into Gangjin Pum-ae (愛) not only because he wants to live in Gangjin, his mother’s nostalgic hometown, but also because he specifically wants to make Makgeolli using Gangjin’s agricultural specialties.
Jung Jin-woon said, “My maternal grandfather operated a rice mill in Hosan Village, so I naturally have a great interest in Gangjin rice. I plan to develop Makgeolli and Dongdongju using Gangjin rice,” adding, “I am very excited to live a different life from before, away from city life, in the neighborhood of my grandmother’s house where I have childhood memories.”
Also, as he was appointed as the promotional ambassador of Gangjin County, he plans to actively promote Gangjin, which is emerging as a tourism mecca with Namdo exploration as its first destination and half-price tourism as its flagship, both domestically and internationally, along with promoting local agricultural, marine, and specialty products and outstanding tourist resources.

County Governor Kang Jin-won said, “Jung Jin-woon, who returned to his mother’s hometown, will be a successful model of the differentiated return-to-farming and return-to-village support policy that simultaneously supports vacant house remodeling (housing) and youth entrepreneurship (jobs). I thank Jung Jin-woon for accepting the role of promotional ambassador and hope he will give great strength to the vigorous leap toward a population of 50,000 in Gangjin.”
In the 8th term of the civilian administration, Gangjin County is focusing all its efforts on attracting population by promoting various housing support projects such as the vacant house remodeling support project and new housing construction support project, aiming to reach a population of 50,000.
Through the second recruitment of Gangjin Pum-ae (愛) residents, the county selected a total of five households, including Hosan in Gangjin-eup where Jung Jin-woon will move in, and is additionally recruiting and announcing 13 households divided into four regional zones.
In the Yeongrang zone (Gangjin-eup, Gundo-myeon), recruitment for three households has been completed and candidates will be selected. Applications for two households in the Cheongja zone (Chillyang-myeon, Maryang-myeon) are being accepted until April 5. The Dasan zone and Hamel zone are waiting for recruitment announcements for a total of eight households.
