3.2 Billion KRW Educational Expense Subsidies for 46 Kindergartens in Songpa-gu
▲Facility Environment Improvement ▲Teacher Cultural Activity Support... Enhancing Educational Competitiveness
Seogangseok, Songpa-gu Mayor: "We Will Create a Happy and Stable Early Childhood Education Environment for All"
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) will provide a total of 320 million KRW in educational expense subsidies this year to 46 kindergartens in the area to contribute to creating a safe and pleasant educational environment and improving the welfare of teaching staff.
Songpa-gu has the largest number of kindergarten students among the 25 autonomous districts in Seoul.
Accordingly, the district secured 320 million KRW for educational expenses in 2024 and plans to strengthen educational welfare and create a happy and stable early childhood education environment for everyone through various supports such as ▲facility environment improvement ▲cultural activity expenses for teachers.
First, to enhance the educational competitiveness of kindergartens in the area, 280 million KRW will be invested in supporting the improvement of kindergarten facility environments. This includes repairing aging playgrounds, replacing desks and chairs, replacing equipment such as computers, improving restroom environments, and renovating kindergarten floors, leading efforts to create a safe and pleasant learning environment tailored to the needs of each kindergarten.
Additionally, under the motto "Happy teachers make happy children," the district has allocated 40 million KRW to support cultural activities for private kindergarten teachers, aiming to boost the morale of private kindergarten teachers who have relatively poor working conditions and treatment compared to public kindergarten staff, and to enhance their professionalism and job satisfaction.
This support will be provided to about 400 private kindergarten teachers in the area, with 100,000 KRW per person. The cultural activity support fund allows them to experience various cultural activities such as watching plays, concerts, musicals, exhibitions, taking one-day classes, sports experiences, and purchasing books.
A teacher from a local kindergarten shared, "The cultural experience of watching a musical with fellow teachers was a healing time and greatly helped me concentrate on work afterward."
The district explained that through active support, teachers will relieve work stress and provide higher quality education to children in a vibrant work environment.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, "We aim to provide high-quality public education through educational expense subsidies so that young children, the future leaders of Songpa-gu, can receive education in better environments," and added, "We will continue to do our best to create a happy and stable early childhood education environment for all through ongoing support."
