"Will Not Be Intimidated and Will See It Through"
"Early Voting Has Started, Please Vote" Appeal
On the 4th, former soccer player Lee Cheon-su, who serves as the chairman of the support committee for Won Hee-ryong, the People Power Party candidate for Incheon Gyeyang-eul, was seen holding back tears while looking at his mother.
That day, around 5:30 p.m., Lee met with citizens while assisting Won's campaign at the Gyeyang-eul Jakjeon Seowoon Hyundai Apartment Cherry Blossom Festival. He said, "Many people ask me what connection I have with Gyeyang. But right now, my mother is here at this place," introducing his mother among the supporters.
He added, "Whenever I hold the microphone, the opposing side threatens me so much that my family is having a very hard time right now," and said, "I will not be discouraged and will continue until the end," struggling to hold back his rising emotions and tears.
Lee raised his voice, saying, "Is this election a presidential election? For Gyeyang to develop, you need to elect a candidate who can work." He continued, "Even if you say things to me or hit me, I will stand with candidate Won Hee-ryong until the end, so please vote starting from early voting tomorrow to make sure we win this time."
Lee's mother said, "Cheon-su played soccer here, and the Korea World Cup was also held here, so he cannot forget Gyeyang. It's like his hometown."
Recently, Lee has reportedly felt psychological pressure due to incidents such as arguments with Democratic Party supporters during campaign support. Last month, during a campaign, he was threatened by a man holding a drill who claimed to know his entire family. He was also kicked by another man. The police have sent these individuals to the prosecution on charges of assault and threats.
