A total of 45.7 billion KRW invested this year to expand housing benefit support and relax Seoul-type housing voucher eligibility... Monthly rent support for youth households independent from parents... Contributing to reduced housing cost burden and housing stability
Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Soo-hee) is taking steps to create a stable housing environment and improve housing welfare for vulnerable groups.
The district plans to operate ▲housing cost support to reduce the burden of housing expenses (45.7 billion KRW) ▲rental housing support ▲housing environment improvement projects in 2024.
First, for vulnerable groups struggling with housing costs, housing benefits of up to 341,000 KRW per month for single-person households will be provided. Eligible households are those with an income recognized amount below 48% of the median income, regardless of work ability or age.
Also, even households not receiving housing benefits but with an income below 60% of the median income will be provided a housing voucher of 80,000 KRW for single-person households. This year, the eligibility for housing vouchers has expanded from households with rental deposits up to 110 million KRW to those up to 165 million KRW, so more households are expected to receive support.
In particular, a project to temporarily support monthly rent for young households living independently from their parents and facing high housing costs will be implemented for one year. Through this, young households can receive housing cost support of up to 200,000 KRW per month for 12 months based on the actual rent paid.
Additionally, according to the supply plans of LH Corporation and SH Corporation, the scope of support for selecting tenants for rental housing has expanded compared to last year, now including households living in semi-basements, goshiwon (small dormitory rooms), vinyl houses, and rooftop residences.
Furthermore, for housing-vulnerable groups, the district will promote ▲Hope House Repair (for owner-occupied and rented households with income below 60% of the median income) ▲Energy Efficiency Improvement Projects (improving heating and cooling efficiency) ▲Hope Nest Project (a public-private partnership). Applications can be submitted at the local community service centers during each project’s recruitment period.
Lee Soo-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, "We hope that through housing cost support projects, the burden of housing expenses for residents will be reduced and housing stability will be improved.”
