Japanese Line Manga Webtoon 'Sangnamja' Surpasses 100 Million Yen in Transactions in March

Naver Webtoon announced on the 4th that the webtoon "Sangnamja," serialized on the Japanese service Line Manga, recorded a transaction amount of 115 million yen (approximately 1.02 billion KRW) last month.

The webtoon "Sangnamja" first debuted on Naver Webtoon in 2020 and has ranked among the top weekday webtoons. It tells the story of a protagonist who rose to the position of CEO of a famous company but returns to his days as a new employee and grows in a completely different way. The original work is a web novel of the same name by writer Kim Taegung, and the comic planning and production are handled by the comic specialized agency Jaedam Media. Additionally, Studio N, Naver Webtoon's video subsidiary, is producing it as a drama.

"Sangnamja" is serialized in English, Japanese, Indonesian, Thai, and other languages through Naver Webtoon's global platform. Especially in Japan, which has a corporate culture similar to Korea, it has captured a readership through Line Manga. In March, it even ranked first in popularity among male readers on Line Manga.

Meanwhile, last year, the webtoons "Ip Hak Yong Byeong," "Jaehon Hwanghu," and "Yaktal Sinbu" each surpassed 100 million yen in monthly transaction amounts. In January, the local Japanese webtoon "Shinhyeol-ui Guseju~ 0.00000001% reul Matchyeo Choegang euro~" recorded a monthly transaction amount of 120 million yen, expanding the lineup of popular works.

Line Manga under Line Digital Frontier and the eBook Japan platform achieved a combined transaction amount of 100 billion yen in 11 months last year, setting a record high.
