"Im Young-woong Concert Tickets 5 Million Won"... Anti-Scalping Meeting Held by Anti-Corruption Commission

The meeting will include major ticketing platforms such as Interpark Triple, Yes24 Ticket, and Melon Ticket, as well as the Korea Music Label Industry Association, Korea Popular Music Performance Industry Association, Korea Creative Content Agency, and Korea Professional Sports Association.

Recently, illegal ticket trading, where tickets are resold at high prices on secondhand trading platforms for profit, has become a social issue. Tickets for large-scale events such as concerts by famous singers or special sports matches are traded at prices reaching millions of won. In fact, the online scalped ticket price for singer Lim Young-woong's concert exceeded 5 million won.

In particular, professional scalpers have emerged who use macro programs to secure royal seats and then resell them immediately on secondhand trading platforms. According to the Civil Complaints Information Analysis System, there have been a total of 549 scalping-related complaints over the past five years, steadily increasing.

An official from the Commission stated, “The increase in ticket prices due to scalping not only deprives the general public, who are the actual consumers of performances and games, of the opportunity to attend but also acts as a factor hindering the long-term growth of the culture and sports industry.” He added, “We plan to seek reasonable improvement measures to prohibit scalping through sufficient discussions with the industry.”
