Remote Start, Parking Assist, and Trunk Opening/Closing Available
Hyundai Mobis has launched a thin card-type car key. Unlike existing card keys, it allows the use of various functions such as remote start and remote parking assist.
On the 4th, Hyundai Mobis announced that it will introduce a button-type smart card key that can use the existing smart key functions as is on the domestic N brand online platform 'N Performance Shop.' This product will be first applied to the Hyundai Ioniq 5N vehicle. Although button-type smart card keys have been applied to some export Genesis models under Hyundai Motor's N brand, this is the first time it has been released for domestic consumers.
The biggest feature of the button-type smart card key is that, unlike existing near-field communication (NFC) card keys, it can use smart key functions as is. NFC card keys without function buttons required the card key to be taken out and directly touched to the vehicle door when unlocking or starting the vehicle. The functions available were limited to locking/unlocking the doors and starting the engine.
In contrast, the button-type smart card key allows various functions such as opening and closing doors by pressing buttons like a conventional smart key, remote start, remote parking assist (RSPA), trunk opening, and remote alarm. The vehicle doors can be opened and the engine started simply by keeping the key in a wallet or pocket. Ultra-wideband (UWB) communication enables precise location detection between devices.
The button-type smart card key released by Hyundai Mobis this time is thin, and the texture and pattern of the front and back of the card can be chosen according to preference. The smart card key for the Ioniq 5N released this time also reflects the high-performance N brand logo and its unique color.
Son Chan-mo, head of Hyundai Mobis Service Parts BU, said, "The button-type smart card key will be expanded to other domestic models in the future," adding, "We will promote various new vehicle after-sales service businesses to enhance convenience and satisfaction for vehicle users."
