Seo Young-jae (57), former Executive Vice President of LG Electronics, has been appointed as the new CEO of DL E&C. Seo is set to be officially appointed as CEO following an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders for director appointment on the 10th of next month. DL E&C announced on the 3rd that it recommended Seo as the new inside director.
Seo joined LG Electronics in 1991 and has held positions such as head of the TV, AV, and IT divisions, as well as director of LG Electronics' Business Incubation (BI) Center. He is recognized within the company for playing a key role in discovering, nurturing, and establishing new business projects in areas such as electric vehicle (EV) charging, healthcare, and home fitness in the market.
He has been involved in planning, finance, and management tasks, earning the nickname "strategic planning expert." Seo graduated from Kyungpook National University with a degree in electronic engineering.
With the construction industry facing a downturn, construction companies are seeking new opportunities in new businesses and non-residential sectors. DL E&C is expected to explore new business opportunities through Seo, who has experience in promoting new businesses. The company is anticipated to focus on discovering new growth engines such as carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), small modular reactors (SMR), hydrogen, and ammonia, as well as expanding new business areas.
A DL E&C official stated, "This is a time when bold changes are necessary," adding, "Since Seo has extensive experience and a track record of success across overall management, we expect him to demonstrate leadership that can enable DL E&C to make a quantum jump."
