Recruiting 150 Households Until April 19, Free Replacement of 400 Old Lights with High-Efficiency LED Lighting
Replacing 1 to 4 Lights per Household for Households Receiving Livelihood, Medical, Housing, Education Benefits and Low-Income Groups
Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that it is promoting the "LED Light Bulb Replacement Support Project for Vulnerable Groups" to improve energy welfare and quality of life by upgrading old lighting in low-income households, and is recruiting 150 households until April 19.
Since the project was first launched in 2015, the district has provided 8,461 LED lights free of charge to 3,257 low-income households. This year, with a budget of 50 million KRW from national, city, and district funds, 400 LED lights will be supplied free of charge to 150 households.
The support targets households receiving livelihood, medical, housing, and education benefits, as well as the near-poor class, with plans to replace 1 to 4 lights per household. However, if the existing lighting is not a general fluorescent lamp, or if the building is less than 5 years old since completion, or if there are remodeling or relocation plans, the facility will be excluded from support.
If the number of applicants is low, the district plans to replace all old lighting in the applying households with high-efficiency LED lights. High-efficiency LED lights can save up to 50% of annual power consumption, resulting in energy and electricity bill reductions. Additionally, the product lifespan increases more than fivefold, and the uniform lighting reduces eye fatigue, providing a sense of stability.
Residents wishing to apply can visit their local community service center by April 19, and applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis within the budget.
Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, "I hope this project, which realizes energy welfare by reducing energy consumption, will help reduce management costs and improve the living environment for low-income families, even if only a little." He added, "We will continue to discover and promote substantial support projects for energy-vulnerable groups."
