Maybach and G-Class Set Record for Highest Sales Ever
Mercedes-Benz Korea achieved record-high sales approaching 8 trillion won last year despite a decrease in sales volume. This was due to the record-breaking sales of luxury segments such as Mercedes-Maybach and the G-Class.
According to Mercedes-Benz Korea's 2023 audit report filed on the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure system on the 3rd, the company recorded sales of 7.94 trillion won, a 5.3% increase compared to the previous year. This is the highest since its entry into the Korean market in 2003. Operating profit was 239.3 billion won, down 15.0%. Net profit for the period increased by 6.7% to 189.8 billion won.
Considering that Mercedes-Benz Korea's sales volume decreased by 5.3% compared to the previous year, it is interpreted that focusing on selling high-priced, high value-added vehicles led to these results. Maybach, the top segment in the Mercedes-Benz product portfolio, recorded its highest-ever sales with 2,596 units sold, a 32.0% increase. The G-Class, which belongs to the upper segment, also saw sales rise by 35.0% to 2,169 units, marking the highest sales volume ever.
Earlier, Matthias Bechtel, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea, said in his first interview with the domestic media hosted by the Korea Automobile Journalists Association, "Being number one is not Mercedes-Benz Korea's strategy," adding, "What Mercedes-Benz focuses on is providing customers with an excellent brand experience, and in that regard, the goal is to strengthen its position as a luxury brand."
