3-Day New Product Launch Media Day
LG Responds to 'We Are the Pioneers of AI Home Appliances'
"More Important to Provide Value Than Being the Pioneer"
Han Jong-hee, Vice Chairman and CEO of Samsung Electronics (Head of the DX Division), said on the 3rd, "The beginning of AI home appliances is not important."
On the same day, at the new product launch media day "Welcome to BESPOKE AI" held at Samsung Electronics Seocho Building in Seocho-gu, Seoul, Han was asked about LG Electronics President Cho Joo-wan's recent statement that "UP home appliances are the origin of AI," to which he responded accordingly.

Han emphasized, "AI first appeared in academic circles in the 1980s," adding, "What matters more than the origin is how quickly consumers can benefit and gain value."
He also stated, "The AI ecosystem is spreading widely and everyone is doing it, but we have the most products actually applied to real life."
In fact, Samsung Electronics unveiled 15 types of AI products at the event. This year’s products feature evolved AI functions and an 'AI Home' based on a large touchscreen, as well as voice recognition through 'Bixby,' allowing remote control of all connected devices in the home. This frees users from limitations of installation space and control methods, making usage more convenient. Through AI Home, users can also receive mobile calls and enjoy videos and music.
Regarding the goal of AI home appliances, Han said, "When it comes to home devices, the goal is for consumers to seek out Samsung Electronics' Digital Appliances (DA) division," adding, "We want to become a brand that consumers choose."
He continued, "(BESPOKE AI home appliances) are the starting point for new home devices and a paradigm shift."
Meanwhile, on Samsung Electronics’ merger and acquisition (M&A) plans, Han said, "We are investing a lot in ventures and startups, but we have not yet shown significant results in major areas, and we are making great efforts toward those big parts."
He added, "What is important is that M&A is necessary both to strengthen our existing businesses and to create new growth engines, and we are currently looking at several companies that correspond to these two pillars."
