The Seoul High Court Criminal Division 1-3 (Presiding Judges Ma Yong-ju, Han Chang-hoon, Kim Woo-jin) on the 3rd sentenced Jeon, who was prosecuted for violating the Narcotics Control Act (psychotropic substances), to 2 years and 6 months in prison with a 4-year suspension, the same as the first trial. The court also ordered Jeon to undergo 3 years of probation, 120 hours of community service, 80 hours of drug treatment lectures, and imposed a fine of 2.66 million won.

The court stated, "Drug use crimes require not only punishment but also consideration of treatment and prevention of recurrence," and added, "The defendant is currently receiving hospital treatment to avoid falling into the temptation of drugs and is engaged in social activities to widely raise awareness of the harms of drugs."

Furthermore, the court said, "If the defendant maintains this attitude, better results can be achieved than serving a heavy prison sentence," and "The probation period of 3 years, community service order, and drug treatment lectures during the suspended sentence period are sufficient for the defendant to maintain this attitude, so the original sentence is not considered too lenient or unfair."

Jeon was non-detained indicted on charges of using four types of drugs, including methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), known as 'Ecstasy,' lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), ketamine, and marijuana, from November 2022 to March last year in the United States.

Jeon, the son of Jeon Jae-yong, the second son of former President Jeon, also exposed suspicions of his family's criminal proceeds concealment and other crimes on his social networking service (SNS) starting March 13 last year.

Jeon admitted all charges at the sentencing hearing on the 20th of last month. In his final statement, he said, "I used drugs that should never be used," and added, "I will do my best to abstain from drugs in the future and contribute to society in the field of drug healing and prevention."
