"Recognition Scope Greatly Expanded to 14 Items"
The Busan IT Convergence Components Research Institute at Dong-Eui University (Director: Imgeon Lee) recently renewed its qualification as an internationally accredited testing institution in the software field from the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS).
Dong-Eui University announced on the 3rd that the scope and range of accreditation have been significantly expanded to 14 international standards in the fields of data quality and functional safety. The accreditation is valid for four years, from March 31, 2023, to March 30, 2028.
Officials from the Busan IT Convergence Components Research Institute at Dong-Eui University are welcoming the renewal of their KOLAS international accredited testing laboratory certification.
The Busan IT Convergence Components Research Institute issues internationally accredited test reports through quality testing in areas including existing systems and software products, data quality, and functional safety fields such as automotive, railway, aviation, and nuclear power.
With the expanded scope of accreditation, companies and public institutions can test their data based on the international standard ISO/IEC 25024 to enhance data quality completeness. Furthermore, in industries where software safety is critical?such as automotive, railway, aviation, and nuclear power?the global competitiveness of local companies is expected to improve.
The institute was recognized as a KOLAS internationally accredited testing institution in the software field in 2016 and has issued more than 700 test reports to date. In 2021, it was designated by the Ministry of Science and ICT as a software quality certification (GS Certification) body and has issued over 60 GS certificates.
Director Imgeon Lee stated, “We will expand the internationally accredited fields to include artificial intelligence technology, products and services, and organizational areas to provide a foundation for strengthening competitiveness and innovation in the local artificial intelligence sector.”
KOLAS is a national accreditation body under the National Institute of Technology and Standards of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. Through its international accreditation system, it comprehensively evaluates testing institutions’ equipment, testing capabilities, and facility environments to officially recognize their international-level testing competence.
