Jinju City Conducts Survey on Single-Person Households at Risk of Solitary Death

Strengthening Management of High-Risk Groups for Solitary Death

Jinju City in Gyeongnam Province will conduct a "Lonely Death Risk Group Survey" for two months from April to May to prevent lonely deaths among vulnerable groups.

This survey is being promoted to proactively identify risk groups and provide customized welfare services as lonely deaths have emerged as a social issue due to the increase in single-person households.

The survey targets about 1,000 households, including middle-aged individuals aged 50 to 64 among socially isolated single-person households and lonely death risk groups identified through resident reports.

The survey will be conducted through public-private cooperation involving officials from the Eup/Myeon offices and Dong administrative welfare centers, members of the community security councils in Eup, Myeon, and Dong, honorary social welfare officers, and village chiefs. It will be carried out via visits or phone calls to assess economic and health status, housing conditions, and degree of social isolation.

Additionally, based on the survey data, the risk of lonely death will be classified into high, medium, and low categories to manage the list, and customized welfare services such as immediate service linkage, case management, and regular monitoring will be provided as soon as at-risk households are identified.

A city official stated, "Through this survey, we will strive to discover blind spots in care and realize proactive prevention of lonely deaths," and added, "If you know of neighbors in difficulty, please contact the nearest Eup/Myeon office, Dong administrative welfare center, or Jinju Welfare Call Center."
