The "National Coalition for the Realization of a Proper Science and Technology Society (Gwasiryeon)" announced on the 3rd that it has established the "Gwasiryeon AI Future Forum" by adding seven AI experts.
The existing nine co-chair system has been reorganized into a 16-member chair committee, aiming to accelerate the spread of AI across various scientific and industrial fields such as manufacturing, healthcare, defense, law, and content.
They plan to hold a monthly "AI Talk Concert with Citizens" and regularly host "AI Lectures Visiting Local Communities" in connection with Gwasiryeon's regional committees to address regional disparities in AI. A new AI Policy Research Institute has been established within Gwasiryeon, with Ha Jung-woo, head of the Naver Cloud AI Innovation Center and co-representative of Gwasiryeon, appointed as the inaugural director.
In the founding declaration, the AI Future Forum stated, "With the advent of the generative AI era triggered by ChatGPT, we are embarking on fulfilling another historical mission and social responsibility. This new civic movement, 'AI into Civil Society,' is in partnership with Gwasiryeon, Korea's first science and technology civic organization and the pioneer of the science and technology civic movement."
The Gwasiryeon AI Future Forum co-chair committee consists of 16 members: Kang Hyun-jung, lawyer at Kim & Chang Law Firm; Kim Dong-hwan, CEO of 42Maru; Kim Seung-il, CEO of Modu Research Institute; Kim Young-min, professor at Seoul National University; Kim Hyun-jin, professor at Seoul National University; Kim Hong-seok, head of technology at Google Korea; Ryu Jeong-hye, vice president of Metaverse Entertainment and VP at Kakao Entertainment; Bae Soon-min, head of KT-AI2X Lab; Shim Seung-bae, director of Defense Data Research Division at Korea Defense Research Institute; Oh Soon-young, head of Financial AI Center at KB Kookmin Bank; Yoo Jae-jun, professor at UNIST; Lee Ji-min, professor at UNIST; Lim Woo-hyung, senior lab head at LG AI Research Institute; Joo Jae-geol, professor at KAIST; Choi Jae-sik, CEO of InEasy and professor at KAIST; and Ha Jung-woo, head of Naver Cloud AI Innovation Center.
