CBS Radio Debate Controversy
In this general election, Lee Jun-seok, the candidate from the Reform New Party running in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi, and Gong Young-woon, the candidate from the Democratic Party, engaged in a heated debate on the 2nd over allegations of their children owning real estate.
On the 2nd, during a CBS radio debate, Lee asked Gong, "When you gifted the 3 billion won building in Seongsu-dong to your son, what was the declared gift value?" and "Besides your son, does any other child of yours own real estate in the Seongsu-dong redevelopment area?"
Lee criticized, "Since you are not disclosing it, may I disclose it? (Your daughter) has a 2.2 billion won house, and having lived as a dual-income couple for nine years, if they bought it with a 1 billion won loan and even a jeonse deposit, isn't this what you call 'Yeongkkeul' (all-in) or gap investment?"
When Gong responded that he had no obligation to disclose his daughter's assets, Lee criticized, "Won't there be ministerial hearings in the future? If First Lady Kim Keon-hee or President Yoon Seok-yeol's mother-in-law refuses to disclose their assets, will you not investigate them?"
In response, Gong said, "Many young people engage in Yeongkkeul and gap investments," and "You shouldn't make an issue out of something that is not against regulations."
He added, "My daughter has been married for a long time and has been working for nine years, and legally, the disclosure of her assets is refused," and "The refusal law exists to protect the privacy of an independent daughter."

He also countered, "Didn’t Lee Jun-seok himself refuse to disclose the assets of his direct ascendants?" and "Is it appropriate for the public that he invested in coins during a tax gap period while serving as party leader? His apartment’s price has quadrupled due to reconstruction," he said.
Gong further said, "Lee accused me of hypocrisy, saying 'he sold dog meat' and compared President Yoon Seok-yeol to dog meat," and "You talk about judging the government without apologizing for creating the regime, but aren’t you the one selling dog meat in Dongtan?"
Lee and Gong became somewhat heated during their exchange. Lee criticized Gong, saying, "You have very poor manners," and Gong responded, "Are you trying to disrupt the election?"
Candidate Han Jeong-min criticized Gong, saying, "The 3 billion won building gifted to your son will increase in value even more in 10 years," and "If it does not meet the public’s standards, I think it is right to resign."
Han added, "I understand that the public is not satisfied with the Yoon Seok-yeol administration," and "The ruling party intends to take the serious public sentiment as an opportunity for self-reflection. Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung and Innovation Party leader Jo Guk appear to be criticizing the Yoon administration to cover up their own faults."
