The KOSPI index turned to a firm upward trend during the session, supported by the strength of Samsung Electronics.


As of 10:37 a.m. on the 2nd, the KOSPI index was trading at 2750.8, up 0.11% from the previous day. The index started lower due to mixed trends in the New York stock market.


By investor type, institutions and individuals are net sellers of 112.4 billion KRW and 235 billion KRW respectively, while foreigners are net buyers of 357.3 billion KRW. In the futures market, institutions and individuals are net sellers of 144.3 billion KRW and 183.7 billion KRW respectively. Foreigners are net buyers of 364.2 billion KRW.


Sector-wise, the performance is mixed. Insurance is up 1.76%, while electrical and electronics rise 1.56%, manufacturing 0.43%, and finance 0.13%. On the other hand, electric and gas utilities fall 2.04%, transportation equipment -1.75%, services -1.46%, pharmaceuticals -1.4%, distribution -1.13%, and medical precision -1.07%.


Most of the top market capitalization stocks are weak. LG Energy Solution is down 0.13%, Samsung Biologics -0.12%, Hyundai Motor -2.86%, Kia -2.58%, Celltrion -1.86%, and POSCO Holdings -1.08%. In contrast, Samsung Electronics leads the market rise with a 2.93% increase. SK Hynix is also up 0.92%, and Samsung SDI is slightly firm at 0.22%.


The KOSDAQ index is extending its decline, pressured by net selling from institutions and foreigners. At the same time, the KOSDAQ index is trading at 894.61, down 1.96% from the previous day.


By investor type, institutions and foreigners are net sellers of 74.8 billion KRW and 193.7 billion KRW respectively, while individuals are net buyers of 283.1 billion KRW.


Most of the top market capitalization stocks are weak. Ecopro BM is down 2.22%, Ecopro -1.58%, HLB -4.12%, Alteogen -8.48%, Ligno Industrial -0.93%, Celltrion Pharm -2.71%, and Rainbow Robotics -2.73%. In contrast, Enchem rose 0.81%, and HPSP is strong at 1.94%.


Meanwhile, in the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won/dollar exchange rate is trading at 1352.3 won, up 2.9 won from the previous day.
