"Broad Knowledge as a Competitive Edge" 20-Year History of Hyundai Vision Forum

Hyundai Group announced on the 2nd that it held a vision forum for its executives and employees.

Started in 2005 as part of a program to enhance employee competitiveness, it marked its 20th anniversary this year. The lecture on this day was a special event commemorating the 40th anniversary of Hyundai Elevator’s establishment, where Professor Kim Jang-woo from Seoul National University gave a 70-minute webinar titled "The Evolution of High-Performance System Semiconductors."

The vision forum was initiated at the suggestion of Hyundai Group Chairwoman Hyun Jeong-eun with the purpose of increasing understanding of the rapidly changing business environment and learning new industry trends. This lecture was the 124th session, and since 2021, participation has shifted to an online format.

Chairwoman Hyun has participated without fail for 20 years. She often says, "The diverse and profound knowledge and qualities of our executives and employees are the company’s core competitiveness," and emphasizes, "We must strive to acquire broad knowledge and integrative thinking."

So far, there have been over 120 speakers at the vision forum. Hyundai Economic Research Institute, an affiliate, recommends experts from various fields for selection, and the speakers autonomously choose their topics, covering a wide range of areas including business environment, society, humanities, religion, and philosophy. Topics have included everyday subjects such as virtual currency and sensemaking, global power dynamics like the US-China technology hegemony, as well as future technology trends such as artificial intelligence, robotic automation, and mobility.

A Hyundai Group official said, "The secret to maintaining this for 20 years is Chairwoman Hyun Jeong-eun’s strong will to nurture talent and the enthusiastic response from executives and employees," adding, "We plan to further expand and develop job-specific and specialized training programs tailored to the characteristics of each company in the future."
