Cheonan City to Launch Public Interest Self-Support Work Group Next Month

Helping Vulnerable Groups with Difficult Cleaning at Laundry Specialty Stores

Cheonan City in Chungnam will officially launch the public interest self-sufficiency work group, ‘Chuldong! Clean Special Forces,’ starting next month.

This initiative was established to provide stable jobs for low-income individuals with work ability and to improve the living environments of vulnerable households. The city plans to invest 100 million won of self-sufficiency funds in Guseong-dong, Dongnam-gu, to set up a self-sufficiency business group store specializing in laundry by the end of this month, and will conduct a pilot operation targeting recruited vulnerable workers.

The city will equip the self-sufficiency business group store with commercial laundry machines, dryers, shoe washers and dryers, replicating an actual laundry store to facilitate the acquisition of professional laundry and cleaning skills necessary for employment or entrepreneurship.

Participants in the self-sufficiency business group will be provided opportunities to obtain professional certifications by participating in the laundry technician and professional organizer courses offered by the Korea Self-Sufficiency Welfare Development Institute. After obtaining certifications, support will be provided to develop business models specialized for the local community.

Additionally, the Hope Rise Support Teams in towns and neighborhoods will identify vulnerable households, such as those with disabled or elderly members who have difficulties with laundry and cleaning, and will collaborate with ‘Chuldong! Clean Special Forces’ to provide professional total care services.

A Cheonan city official stated, “Through this project, which provides stable jobs for vulnerable workers while supporting cleaning and laundry for housing-vulnerable households, we will do our best to strengthen the public nature of community self-sufficiency welfare.”
