"Please Fulfill Basic Driving Duties and Comply with Traffic Laws"

The Jeonbuk Provincial Police Agency (Chief Im Byeong-suk) announced that it will conduct a special crackdown for two weeks until the 12th on illegal activities such as unregistered motorcycles and unlicensed electric kickboards, which increase social anxiety.

According to Jeonbuk Police on the 1st, the average monthly motorcycle accident statistics last year were 30.4 cases, but in the second quarter, it showed a higher incidence rate of 34.6 cases, an increase of 13.8% compared to the average. With the arrival of spring and the new school term, the number of students using electric kickboards has increased, raising the risk of traffic accidents involving motorcycles and electric kickboards. Therefore, the police will proactively carry out special crackdown activities to suppress accidents at an early stage.

In urban and university areas where the volume of motorcycle and electric kickboard traffic is high, the police will focus on cracking down on unregistered motorcycle operation using traffic patrol sidecars, riding motorcycles on sidewalks, exceeding passenger limits on electric kickboards, signal violations, not wearing helmets, and drunk or unlicensed driving.

In rural areas, guidance and crackdowns will focus on traffic violations with high fatality rates in accidents, such as elderly motorcycle drivers not wearing helmets.

Chief Im Byeong-suk stated, "We will create a safe Jeonbuk Province through special crackdowns on motorcycles and electric kickboards that threaten the safety of residents and increase anxiety," and urged, "Please comply with the basic duties and traffic laws when operating motorcycles and electric kickboards."
