Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon encouraged participants by saying, "I hope this competition becomes an opportunity for everyone to grow one step further," in a post on his social media after attending the opening of the '2024 Gyeonggi-do Skills Competition' held on the 1st.
Governor Kim first introduced the event by saying, "I support the skilled workers of Gyeonggi-do, who will lead the future of Gyeonggi Province and South Korea's industry," and added, "The 2024 Gyeonggi-do Skills Competition has officially opened."
He then described it as "a festival for the next-generation skilled technicians who will be responsible for the future of our industry," and reported, "Over 500 competitors participated across 49 categories, including 3D printing, intelligent robots, and video content production."
In particular, he noted, "Most of the competitors in the competition are students from specialized high schools," and reflected, "I also graduated from a specialized high school and immediately started working, so it brought back vivid memories."
Furthermore, he added, "I send warm encouragement to all participants who will continue the proud tradition of skilled workers in Gyeonggi-do," and said, "I hope all participants fully demonstrate their honed skills and that this competition becomes an opportunity for them to grow one step further."
