"Women Should Cry After Giving Their Body"... Controversy Over Lecture at Prestigious Chinese University

“Women should please men” and other misogynistic remarks
Students protest... Class suspended amid growing controversy

An instructor at a prestigious university in China sparked controversy by objectifying women as beings who enhance sexual attraction to please men. Amid fierce criticism, the lecture was eventually canceled.

On the 31st, the Hong Kong South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that Mr. A, an instructor at the College of Geographical Sciences at East China Normal University in Shanghai, China, gave a lecture titled "The Psychology of Love," in which he taught how women can appear attractive to men.

In the lecture, Mr. A said, "From a genetic perspective, a woman's greatest attraction to men is her ability to bear children," and advised, "Women should actively say they want to have children."

He also stated that improving physical strength through exercise enhances reproductive ability, which can better attract men's hearts. He added, "Guo Jingjing, a diving star who won multiple gold medals at the Olympics, married Huo Qigang, a Hong Kong tycoon and politician, didn't she?"

Additionally, Mr. A claimed, "Makeup can make you attractive to men, but it must be done correctly; the key is to look young," "When dating, act as if your parents will keep calling or make excuses like you must return home by 10 p.m. to create a conservative image," and "When having sexual intercourse, initially refuse lightly, then consent, and after finishing, shed a few tears to feign guilt."

This lecture had previously been criticized for teaching female students how to increase sexual attraction and please men. A student who enrolled in 2022 pointed out, "Mr. A has emphasized stereotypes about women and reproductive ability in his classes." Nevertheless, the lecture was popular among students because it was easy to earn credits.

However, as students strongly opposed Mr. A's lecture content and the controversy grew, the university announced on the 13th that the lecture would be suspended and stated, "Future lectures will focus on psychological cognitive science."

Feng Yuan, co-founder of a Beijing-based gender equality NGO, pointed out, "Such lectures not only disregard women's rights but also overlook men's genuine emotions and love, which cannot be fulfilled by biological desires alone."
