Jo Guk, leader of the Jo Guk Innovation Party, said on the 31st in response to Han Dong-hoon, the emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, calling Korea a "backward country," "Isn't there someone else who created this political backwardness?"
On the same day, at the event "Early End to Prosecutorial Dictatorship, Together with the Citizens of Changwon" held in front of Lotte Department Store Changwon in Seongsan-gu, Changwon, Gyeongnam, Jo said, "During the Moon Jae-in administration, we woke up thinking we were an advanced country and took pride in it, but now we have woken up to find ourselves a backward country."
He then criticized Chairman Han, saying, "Does the crown prince of the regime that made this have the right to say such things?"
Earlier, at a campaign rally in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, the previous day, Chairman Han targeted Jo, saying, "He created a party under his own name to deceive people," and added, "There are countries among backward nations where those in power can do anything to protect their family's crimes and suppress opponents. Isn't the Republic of Korea different from such countries?"
Jo directly responded, "The Jo Guk Innovation Party introduced the Han Dong-hoon Special Prosecutor Act as its first bill," and said, "We will definitely pass it in cooperation with the Democratic Party of Korea, so Chairman Han Dong-hoon should prepare to be investigated quickly."
