On the same day, Jo visited the birthplace of former President Kim Young-sam (YS) in Geoje City, Gyeongnam, and said, "Former President Kim Young-sam swiftly eradicated the Hanahoe and decisively implemented the real-name financial system. These two achievements would not have been possible without his courage and determination."
He added, "From his twenties as a member of the National Assembly to the time he brought down the military dictatorship, his example is something we should learn from and something our party needs."
In the guestbook, he wrote, "With the courage to fight against military dictatorship and the determination to eradicate the Hanahoe engraved in my heart, I will fight against the prosecutorial dictatorship regime."
Regarding his connection with former President Kim, Jo said, "The Busan Gyeongnam Middle and High Schools that former President Kim Young-sam attended were located in Daesin-dong, where I grew up. From my youth, I grew up watching former President Kim Young-sam bravely fight against the military dictatorship regime in Busan and Gyeongnam, making me a Kim Young-sam kid."
