Open Call from March 15 to April 7... 24 Artists Residing or Active in Gwanak-gu, 12 Spaces Over 60㎡ in Gwanak-gu to Be Selected
Gwanak-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is accelerating efforts to transform everyday spaces into cultural art galleries by recruiting artists and spaces to participate in the 'Gwanak Art Road RE-Design, Spot Gallery Project' for the first time this year.
The 'Spot Gallery Project,' proposed by residents as a cooperative governance task in the 8th term of the civil administration, aims to discover various spots within the region, create gallery spaces, and connect local artists with spaces to realize galleries in daily life.
Eligibility requirements include artists who reside or are active in the area and businesses such as cafes or restaurants with spaces of 60㎡ or larger.
First, artists will be selected by a review committee based on the artistic quality, creativity, and topicality of individually submitted works, with a final selection of 24 artists. The selected artists' works will be matched with spaces considering the atmosphere of each location.
The exhibition of the selected artists' works will be held over six months from May to October, with two artists' works displayed per space for two months each, divided into three sessions.
To promote the Spot Gallery Project, the district will provide 500,000 KRW each to the selected artists and space businesses, and will also conduct SNS events targeting visitors.
In particular, at the end of the year, a special exhibition of works by artists participating in the Spot Gallery Project will be held at Gallery Gwanak on the 2nd floor of the Gwanak-gu Office.
Those wishing to participate in the Spot Gallery Project can download the application form from the Gwanak-gu Office website and submit it via email to the person in charge by April 7.

Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “Through this Spot Gallery Project, we expect to provide exhibition spaces for artists to support their creative activities and increase sales for participating spaces through specialized promotion. Additionally, it is a triple-benefit project that allows residents to enjoy cultural and artistic experiences in their daily lives, so we hope many people will participate.”
