Lee Jae-myung: "People close to President Yoon or appointed by him are at a disadvantage in their regions"

Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, claimed on the 30th, "In regions where the president has endorsed a candidate or where the candidate is considered close to President Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party is at a disadvantage."

On the same day, through a YouTube live broadcast, Lee made this statement while remotely campaigning by calling candidates Kim Jung-nam in Gangneung and Bae Jae-jung in Sasang, Busan, urging support for them.

Gangneung is where People Power Party lawmaker Kwon Seong-dong is running for his fifth term. Regarding Gangneung, Lee said, "It is very difficult and I thought it would be a foregone conclusion, but surprisingly, the current status seems to be neck and neck," adding, "The Yeongdong area is not doing well, but Gangneung appears to be in a close race."

He then emphasized, "Although Kwon is a senior from my university, and I hesitate to speak negatively, from the perspective of Gangneung citizens and the people, Kim must replace him to open the future for Gangneung and restore the nation's destiny to normal."

Lee continued, "In Yongin Gap, there is also a prosecutor junior whom President Yoon favors, but contrary to expectations, police officer candidate Lee Sang-sik is overwhelmingly leading." This appears to be targeting People Power Party candidate Lee Won-mo, a former presidential secretary for personnel.

Additionally, Lee said, "Sasang in Busan is truly a very close contest. Winning here is really meaningful. It was the former electoral district of former President Moon Jae-in," emphasizing, "This is an issue for the entire democratic camp and a task for the Democratic Party." Sasang, Busan is the constituency of lawmaker Jang Je-won, who declared he would not run, and the People Power Party fielded candidate Kim Dae-sik here.
